Season Review

Tennessee Titans 2024

The 2024 Tennessee Titans entered a new era under first-year head coach Brian Callahan. Following Derrick Henry’s departure, general manager Ran Carthon aggressively re-tooled the roster by signing Calvin Ridley, Tony Pollard, Lloyd Cushenberry III, Kenneth Murray Jr., and Chidobe Awuzie, while trading for cornerback L’Jarius Sneed. In the draft, Tennessee fortified its trenches with offensive tackle JC Latham and nose tackle T’Vondre Sweat. However, the offseason moves failed to generate wins, resulting in a 3-14 record, a last-place finish in the AFC South, and missing the playoffs.

Tennessee’s offense struggled with turnover issues, ranking 27th in scoring with 311 points (18.3 ppg) and 26th in total yards (5,172). Quarterback Will Levis posted a 2-10 record across 12 starts, passing for 2,091 yards, 13 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. Backup Mason Rudolph added 1,530 passing yards, nine touchdowns, and nine interceptions in eight appearances. Together, the offense gave up a staggering 34 turnovers. Playmakers still produced, as Tony Pollard rushed for 1,079 yards, Calvin Ridley recorded 1,017 receiving yards, Nick Westbrook-Ikhine caught nine touchdowns, and tight end Chig Okonkwo gained 479 receiving yards.

Defensively, coordinator Dennard Wilson’s unit fielded the NFL’s second best pass defense, allowing just 3,014 passing yards and ranking second in total yards allowed (5,291). However, turnover-driven short fields and an inability to shut down opposing run games led to 460 points allowed (27.1 ppg). Outside linebacker Harold Landry led the front with 9.0 sacks, Arden Key added 6.5 sacks, and Jeffery Simmons recorded 5.0 sacks. Linebacker Kenneth Murray Jr. logged a team-high 95 tackles, while safety Amani Hooker led the secondary with five interceptions.

The campaign was marked by early frustration and late-season collapses. After opening 0-3, Tennessee secured a 31-12 win against Miami in Week 4 and beat New England in Week 9, 20-17 in OT. The team’s peak came in Week 12 with a 32-27 road victory over division rival Houston. However, the season unraveled with a six-game losing streak to close out the schedule, highlighted by a 38-30 loss to Indianapolis in Week 16 and a 23-14 loss to Houston in the finale.

By missing the postseason at 3-14, Tennessee secured top draft positioning to continue their roster reset. Special teams remained a high point, with kicker Nick Folk converting 21 of 22 field goals at 95.5% and punter Ryan Stonehouse averaging 50.6 yards per punt. Defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons earned Pro Bowl selection as the team's sole honoree. While 2024 brought growing pains, core additions like Latham, Sweat, and Pollard laid the foundation for the future.
