Free-agent pass rushers Clowney and Beasley ended up generating zero sacks combined, leaving outside linebacker Harold Landry to lead the team with just 5.5 sacks. Defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons tallied three sacks and 14 quarterback hits, while safety Kevin Byard registered 111 tackles. Cornerback Malcolm Butler and safety Amani Hooker provided secondary playmaking, tied for the team lead with four interceptions apiece with Butler deflecting 14 passes.

Tennessee sprinted out to a 5-0 start, highlighted by a 42-16 rout of Buffalo and a 42-36 overtime thriller against Houston. Midseason stumbles against Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, and Indianapolis exposed defensive flaws, but the Titans answered with crucial late-season victories. In Week 11, Tannehill and Henry sparked an overtime road win against Baltimore. A week later, Tennessee smashed the Colts 45-26 in a pivotal divisional battle. They sealed the AFC South crown in Week 17, outlasting Houston 41-38 behind Henry’s remarkable 250-yard, two-touchdown performance on the ground.

The postseason ended abruptly in the Wild Card round with a 20-13 loss to Baltimore, as the Ravens contained Henry to 40 rushing yards on 18 attempts. Despite the early exit, the 2020 Titans made franchise history. Henry became just the eighth player in NFL history to cross the 2,000-yard rushing threshold, capturing NFL Offensive Player of the Year and First-Team All-Pro honors alongside Pro Bowl receiver A.J.
