The season started with Houston sparking early optimism by winning five of six games after a Week 1 loss to site at 5-2 after seven games, highlighted by a dominant 23-13 home victory over Pittsburgh in week 8. The tide turned following a heart-wrenching 10-9 loss to San Francisco, kicking off a slide where the Oilers lost four of five games.
