The absolute peak arrived in Week 3 with a masterful 26-10 Sunday Night Football dismantling of the New England Patriots, which briefly legitimized Patricia’s hiring. The Lions later climbed to 3-3 after beating Miami 32-21, but a subsequent three-game slide against Seattle, Minnesota and Chicago doomed their campaign. Despite a gritty 20-19 win over Carolina, a punch-less December stretch mathematically eliminated them from contention. A final 31-0 shutout of the Packers in Green Bay provided a hollow ending to a thoroughly derailed autumn.

Missing the postseason cemented the 2018 Lions as a cautionary tale regarding the forced implementation of an outside team’s culture.
