Bright spot were few and far between but one arrived during a Week 11 clash with the Patriots, where Cleveland scrapped out a gritty 19-11 victory. That high was quickly erased by a late-season collapse, culminating in a 24-0 shutout against Tennessee.

A 3-13 disaster meant January playoff football was out of the question, cementing this Browns squad as a historic cautionary tale. The season laid bare the monumental difficulty of building a franchise from scratch. Chris Palmer paid the price for the ineptitude and was fired after just two dismal seasons.
