Season Review

Green Bay Packers 2024

The 2024 Green Bay Packers entered the season carrying massive expectations after Jordan Love's breakout campaign the previous year. Head coach Matt LaFleur welcomed free agents Josh Jacobs and Xavier McKinney to solidify a championship-ready roster. Green Bay ultimately finished 11-6, placing third in a powerhouse NFC North. Despite the division rank, the Packers secured a Wild Card berth, showcasing a potent young offense and a ball-hawking defense. The journey culminated in a disappointing postseason exit, falling 22-10 to the Philadelphia Eagles in the Wild Card round.

Green Bay's balanced ground and pound offense thrived, ranking fifth in yards and eighth in points accumulating an average of 27.1 point per contest. Jordan Love missed two games but still threw for 3,389 yards and 25 touchdowns. When Love was injured, backup Malik Willis played exceptionally well by going 2-0 as a starter. The ground game leaned on Josh Jacobs, who racked up 1,329 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns. Sophomore Jayden Reed remained a premier multi-tool threat with 857 receiving yards and seven total scores, while tight end Tucker Kraft broke out with 707 yards and seven touchdowns.

Defensively, Green Bay took a major leap, ranking fifth in yards allowed and sixth in points allowed (19.9 ppg). Safety Xavier McKinney was an absolute home-run signing, transforming the secondary with eight interceptions and First-Team All-Pro honors. Rashan Gary anchored the edge with 7.5 sacks and a Pro Bowl nod, while defensive lineman Devonte Wyatt added five sacks. Rookie linebacker Edgerrin Cooper quickly became a fixture, registering 87 tackles and 3.5 sacks to finish with some Defensive Rookie of the Year votes.

The season was defined by dramatic swings. It began with an opening 34-29 loss to the Eagles in Brazil where Love was injured. After Willis' heroic two-game cameo, Green Bay rattled off big midseason wins, including a 24-22 thriller over Houston and a 38-10 dismantling of San Francisco. A late-season surge featured a 34-0 shutout of New Orleans, but the Packers stumbled across the finish line, dropping their final two regular-season games to division rivals Minnesota and Chicago.

The momentum loss carried into the playoffs, where a Wild Card rematch with Philadelphia ended in a 22-10 defeat as Love threw three interceptions. While the ending stung, the legacy of the 2024 Packers remains highly encouraging. Jacobs received votes for Offensive Player of the Year and the roster proved it possessed elite talent on both sides of the ball. This campaign solidified Green Bay's foundational core, proving that their championship window is still wide open.
